Suspect Arrested for Cat Killings

June 14th, 2009

Could this be the cat killer? An 18-year-old? We’ll just have to wait and see. According to JustNews.com:

Tyler Weinman, 18, lives in the area [South Florida] and is now in police custody, police said. He is charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, four counts of burglary and 19 counts of improper disposing of an animal body.

If a young man is capable of committing such terrible acts, could he be capable of going beyond family pets? I wish I knew the psychology behind this: what drove him to do such a thing? Was it cheer stupidity, vengeance, or an insatiable craving? I’m probably reading too much into this, but killing and mutilating over 20 cats is a big warning sign. If he gets time for every cat he killed, he’ll probably be in a jail for a long, loooong time. But something tells me that’s not going to happen- and that’s scary.

Regardless, the search is still on. Read the previous post if you have any information that could help with the case. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for new updates.

Cat Killer on the Loose

June 13th, 2009

A cat killer is traumatizing feline owners living in Miamia, Fla. He/she has murdered and mutilated over 20 cats, including Tommy, pictured on the left. There are many perverted, disgusting people who take pleasure in abusing and killing innocent animals, but this case hit a nerve when the victims became household, family pets.

According to a CNN article, part of Tommy’s skin and legs were missing and he was partially skinned.

As a cat owner, I’m hoping the person involved in these hideous crimes gets caught soon and receives proper punishment for his/her twisted actions. You can get up to 5 years in prison for killing a cat; animal cruelty is a FELONY in the US.

The following is an article taken from www.JustNews.com with more details on the cat killings:

Glowing Kittens ?

September 25th, 2008

I don’t know what to think about this video. I was searching around the web for cat news from around the globe and came across the weirdest cat project. Apparently, South Korean scientists managed to clone cats that glow in the dark by… ok, let me try to get this right… inserting glow genes (from where?) and a red fluorescent protein into Turkish Angora cat eggs? I can’t say I fully understand the premise of such an experiment. In fact, I’m a bit shocked! How is this helpful? How does making domestic animals radiate/shine lead to human life saving discoveries? Supposedly, such a study could help understand human genetic diseases… somehow…

I just feel like sitting down with whomever came up with the “brilliant” idea and saying:

Wait… what?

Cat Killed Out Of Jealousy

September 19th, 2008

I was enraged when I read that former baseball player turned actor Joseph Petcka killed his ex-girlfriend’s cat during a fit of jealousy. I’m sure things like this happen all the time, but it makes me sick to my stomach to know that even the rich and the famous are capable of succumbing to pure barbarism.

According to CNN.com, the cat, called Norman, died with “broken teeth, broken ribs, a broken leg, a torn tongue, massive internal injuries including bruised lungs and a bruised liver and a chest cavity filled with blood.” That is messed up! Continue reading »
